We are saddened to announce the death of Rev. Michael Berner (January 9, 1960 – April 11, 2025). A Vigil Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 PM with a visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church 4 Valley View Drive Council Bluffs, IA 51503. Since his ordination in 1986, he has touched the lives of many of our parishioners and those in southwest Iowa. We pray the Lord will grant him eternal rest, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Lenten Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowls are available in SSPP church! Please consider putting the boxes on your dining tables as part of your family's prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Funds raised help to combat hunger and poverty in over 120 countries, as well as our diocese.

Our local Knights of Columbus Council #1164 is asking parishioners to donate 40 Cans or 40 Dollars during this Lenten season. Inspired by Christ's 40 days of fasting in the desert, we ask you take this opportunity to help feed those in need through the Atlantic Food Pantry and the Knight of Columbus Food for Families Program. Nonperishable food items may be left in the church collection box and monetary donations may be placed in the collection baskets or dropped off in the church office.

Faith Formation this Wednesday, March 12th will be at St. Mary's (Anita). Bring the whole family for a group learning session at 5:30 pm upstairs in the church. There will then be a meal in the church basement generously hosted by the St. Mary's CWO. We hope all our Faith Formation families will be able to attend! Please RSVP to Julie to aid in food planning.

With a winter storm predicted, please note each parish will follow the local school district decisions regarding cancellations. We try to send out text message alerts via Flocknote also; however, please listen for Atlantic Community School District (SSPP), Griswold Community Schools (OLG), and CAM Community School District (SM & ST) cancellations to know if mass will be cancelled. A two-hour late start would result in morning mass cancellations only. Please use your best judgement before venturing out!

Please join us for Ash Wednesday masses during the following times 7:00 AM (SSPP), 7:30 AM (OLG), Noon (SSPP), 5:15 PM (SM), 5:15 PM (ST), and 7:00 PM (SSPP & Livestream). We hope all may find themselves closer to the Lord this Lent through the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

As the Parish Center is closed for renovation this Lenten season, the Knights of Columbus will instead be offering carryout meals from the Whitney Building. Guests are asked to drive west on 2nd Street, turn south into the alley past Walnut Street, and stop near the Whitney Building’s rear door before 3rd Street. Meals will be brought to your vehicle.

Our local Knights of Columbus Council #1164 will be offering carryout Fried Fish or Macaroni & Cheese Dinners each Friday evening during lent. Please join us beginning this Friday, March 7th in supporting not only our Knights, but all the people and organizations they are in turn able to help with the proceeds. The Indulgence is a Jubilee grace that may be granted by undertaking a pious pilgrimage, piously visiting sacred places, or participating in works of mercy and penance. The faithful may obtain the Jubilee Indulgence granted by the Holy Father if they undertake a pious pilgrimage to certain churches in the Diocese of Des Moines as identified by Bishop Joensen.
